Frustrated with your electric bill? You are not alone. Many in New Jersey took to social media to express their displeasure in seeing their bills surge after the utility rates in the state increased in June.
“How can anyone afford to live in this state anymore? It is beyond frustrating,” one New Jersey woman said on TikTok.
She said she uses an equal payment plan in which PSE&G gives her a monthly rate based on her previous usage, and after each year she has to pay an overuse fee or receive a check if less energy is used (she said that never happens.)
In the post, which has drawn over 25,000 likes and close to a half million views, she said her 1,200-square-foot house would garnish a monthly electric bill of around or below $200 but she would usually pay an extra $400 each year in the overuse fee. Her monthly electricity bill for 2024-2025 was $226. Her year-end overuse fee was an extra $1,300. Her monthly bill for the upcoming year will be $380.
